Welcome to the Lough View Integrated Primary and Nursery school website. Our aim is to provide a user friendly and enjoyable site, which introduces you to the school. If you are a prospective parent you will get a sense of who we are and what our school is all about. If you are an existing parent you can access a lot of useful and up-to-date information. The drop down menus above are self-explanatory and will guide you to each of the relevant sections.

Dear Parents

In the wake of a couple of incidents involving some of our older pupils and the world of internet/social media, we have reviewed the guidance that we provide for parents on how to adequately supervise and protect children from the many dangers that exist on line.

From the research that we have undertaken it is clear that not all parents are fully aware of the risks to children from the internet/social media nor are they aware of the often simple steps that that can be undertaken to improve e-safety at home.

Accordingly I wish to direct you to the following website which provides comprehensive guidance and support.

www.childnet.com        Please make this a priority

This excellent website provides all the information and help you will require to keep your children safe. Simply click on the Parents and Carers section which can be found on the menu bar at the top of the home page. This can advise you on how to activate home filters and parental controls on your internet whether BT, Sky or Virgin Media. It also highlights and offers advice on the many potentially risky mobile apps e.g. Snap Chat, which our older pupils increasingly seem to be accessing.

The site also includes some great resources for primary school pupils which we would also encourage you to explore with your children.

While the benefits of modern technology and e-learning offer our children fantastic opportunities, we need your help to ensure that our pupils access these benefits and avoid the dangers.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in this matter.
